When I wrote the book,Your Legacy, Your Life, I wanted it to include more than the usual questions that most legacy writing books have. I wanted to get people really thinking about their memories. That's when I came up with the idea of the Memory Words. You select a word and write a paragraph or two about it. If you have the book, you'll find them in most of the chapters. Use them as a warm up exercise.
Then, I started thinking about how, when a group of people get together, they start sharing their stories and memories. It seems that when when people shares their experiences, it reminds others of their own. Do you find this to be the case?
So, I've included stories throughout the book and in the Legacy Writers' Newsletter. Not just mine, but stories that other people have written, as well. However, it doesn't stop there. I'm hoping that you will want to share some of your stories with us. To encourage this, here's how we'll use them.
- We'll feature one or two stories in each issue of the newsletter. (You can subscribe at www.yourlegacyyourlife.com.)
- We'll have a yearly Legacy Writers' Contest, where you can submit stories in the various categories (similar to the chapters in the book).
- We'll feature the winning entries on the website and in a book.
- We'll feature some of the stories on this blog.
Hey, that means you better start writing. We need your support to make this happen. Send your stories to firstname.lastname@example.org.
